簡介
曾經身受英國女王頒贈爵位的勞倫斯奧立佛，對莎士比亞的戲劇情有獨鍾，而放改眼影壇，能將莎翁戲劇妥善電影化而又不失原著精神的，就屬他了。他於1926年加入伯明罕劇團，1929年首次在百老匯舞臺上出現，自30年開始參加電影的演出。1944年自製、自導、自演莎士比亞名劇【亨利五世】，並因此獲得一座奧斯卡特別獎。1948年又以【王子復仇記】嬴得奧斯卡最佳影片和最佳男主角獎；除此之外，他共獲得九次奧斯卡最佳男主角提名以及一次最佳導演(【王子復仇記】)提名，更於1979年奧斯卡頒獎典禮中獲頒「特別成就獎」。而他已於1989年7月11日辭世。
