  • 生於伊利諾斯州。1974年與約翰馬可維奇等在芝加哥組成steppenwolf劇團，具有表演與導演的優異才華。1983年自導自演了電影【True West】，後又在不少電視影片裡出演。1992年自導自演的影片【人鼠之間】，受到影評界熱烈好評。1995年以轟動世界的名片【阿甘正傳】入圍奧斯卡最佳男配角金像獎。隔年以電視電影【杜魯門總統傳奇】獲金球獎最佳男主角獎。近年來重心大多轉回小螢幕發展。

簡介

歐德曼生長在藍領家庭，曾經被學校退學，而後進入演藝學校就讀。1981年他開始參加電影劇及舞臺劇表演，並於1986年獲頒最佳演員及新人獎。隔年在電影處女作【席德與南茜】中飾演嗑藥的搖滾龐克青年，又奪一座最佳新人獎，而他也是少數能夠表現美式腔調的英國演員。拍完【吸血鬼】後，蓋瑞並擔任坎城影展評審，在影壇地位已受肯定。曾經與女星烏瑪舒曼有短暫的婚姻關係。2001年他演出了【人魔】，也接演了賣座大片諸如【哈利波特】與【黑暗騎士】系列電影等，戲路亦正亦邪，常是各大電影中不可或缺的角色。
